Meet  the Designer

February 2008.....My name is Carol June Sorsdahl.   My Dad used to call me "Junebug," hence the name for the website.  I created the Junebug Collection.   I have been designing and knitting for babies and children since 1973.

In the early years I was an insurance agent but my son Clint, developmentally disabled from a brain tumor at 26 months of age, began to need me at home more once he finished his school years.  So I cut down on my insurance work and began to build up my custom knitting business.  On Dec 19, 2003, we were told that Clint's brain tumors had returned and there were no options left.  Clint entered the Hospice program Feb 9, 2004.  Sadly for us, but joyfully for him, Clint went home to be with Jesus on Dec 3, 2004.  In Memory of Clint

I spend most of my days now doing charity knitting, quilting and embroidery.  I work out of my home studio.  Located in the countryside on 2 1/2 acres near Gig Harbor, Washington, our land was originally part of a large homestead and orchard.  We are treated to a variety of wildlife during the year.....pheasants, quail, black bear, foxes, coyotes and up to four deer at a time right out our front door!  You can see some of the things I've done in my Picasa Photo Album

Over the years several of my designs have been published.  "Pocketful of Cherries," my first matching doll & girl outfit, was featured on the cover of the Jul/Aug 99 issue of Machine Knitters Source, formerly a leading North American knitting publication. (Click on picture for a larger view, then X to close picture window.)

In 2003, I was accepted as a designer for Coats & Clark, the makers of Red Heart yarns.  In October, 2004, some of my submissions were published in the premier issue of Woman's Day Quick & Easy Knitting & Crocheting.  In 2005 several of my sweaters appeared in the back to school issue of Sew Beautiful  because they all had embroidered designs from my friend Marilyn at Sew Many Designs.  2006 saw one of my sweaters published in Creative Knitting.
